Target Audience Of Artist

It is necessary to have target audience in m

ind when producing a video to go with a song for it to be successful. This is so that they know how to specifically aim it at a certain audience and know what they want.

To establish a good idea of the target audience for the artist we have chosen, I have researched fan pages on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace and taken screen shots.

I also used Twitter to ask fans of Ellie Goulding their age, gender and occupations.

This is a screen shot of some of the people who "like" the Ellie Goulding Facebook page. Of the six people pictured, 4 are female and 2 are male. This suggests that the audience for Ellie Goulding is mainly female but there are also males that listen to her music.

These are two screen shots taken from Ellie Goulding's official MySpace page. Similar to the information found when looking at Ellie Goulding's Facebook fans, there is a mixture of male and female followers that are aged between 19 and 50.

This is a screen shot of some of the replies I got on Twitter. The replies were predominantly female. Out of the eight replies I received, two were from males and six from females. The age ranged from 15-25 and a majority of replies were students.

I also looked at magazines that the artist has featured in and have used the National Readership Survey to find out who reads those magazines to try and

get an idea of who listens to the artist. This is the only magazine cover that I could find that featured Ellie Goulding.

This is a screen shot taken from the latest NRS listing for the women's magazine Company. The majority of readers are aged 15-44. Also, approximately over two thirds of the readers fit into the socio-economic group ABC1 - which include high ranking professionals such as lawyers, middle ranking professionals such as teachers and other occupations such as "white collar" office workers, bank clerks and nurses.

From this we can establish that the majority of the type of people reading this magazine are females aged between 15 and 44, which alongside my other research leads me to predict the main audience of Ellie Goulding, would be similar.
